Our Pastor

Michael McGee became pastor on September 16, 2007 after serving as assistant pastor for the previous 3 1/2 years. Pastor McGee had been the youth director for the church since 1996 and was the youth pastor at Varina Baptist Church in Richmond prior to coming back to Ambassador Baptist Church.
"My desire while in college was to enter a field where I could encourage and help people."
He began his studies by receiving a B.S. in Psychology/Biblical Studies. While working as a case worker with children and adolescents in Chattanooga, TN and then in Virginia, Pastor began graduate studies at Liberty University where he received a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling. Before becoming the pastor here, he spent the previous 13 years working as a counselor and mental health provider in the Metro-Richmond area totaling over 20 years in mental health.
Pastor McGee continues to assist in the training of others for the ministry through teaching undergraduate studies at Veritas Baptist College. He has taught Educational Psychology, Human Growth and Development, Biblical Counseling, as well as other courses.
Since graduate school, he has completed a Master of Ministry Degree and post-graduate work toward a Ph.D and now has been provisionally accepted in a D.Min program.
"There is no greater satisfaction in life than to know that you are pursuing God's perfect plan."

"My seven greatest blessings in life are my wife (Meredith), and my six incredible kids (Katie, Mollie, Joel, Adam, Amelia, & Harrison). Meredith is active in the church–teaching, singing, and ministering in numerous other ways. Each of the family enjoys ministering to our local nursing home and keeping Christ the center of our home."
